I lift and the best kind of fit for jeans I've found is American Eagle's Athletic Fit Air Flex. Standard Athletic Fit and Athletic Skinny. Both styles have that little extra room in the thigh and seat, soft stretch, great taper, and are around $45. I've gotten multiple compliments from friend's wives (mine too) on the fit so I know I chose wisely. I'm 190lbs 5'9" and wear a 34/32 skinny or 32/32 regular Athletic Fit.
I'm on that exact same boat and usually go with Express's Straight Slim (6'2", between 210-220). Especially when they have crazy sales and have the pants go for $20 - 30 a pair. I've tried designer all the way to Levi's but you can't go wrong with value
Great info, I haven't tried those. This past week I've tried on over 30 pairs and did loads of research. I found the best for me (muscular ass and legs, 5'11, 185lbs) are Lee Extreme Motion Athletic Taper (32x32) and Goodfellow Slim Straight (30x32, but ONLY in light blue wash! The other colors use different material blends 😡). They fit identically and are super stretchy. Levi 506 (athletic stretch 32x32) was a close third, would be best for real outdoor work pants. Thicker, less stretchy. Arizona Athletic Taper 32x32 almost made the list.
@@nickisabelle724 I pretty much tried all those and the American Eagle were the way to go. You won't be disappointed. I'm 5'9" 203lbs pretty lean and the 32-34/32 were best for me in the regular and skinny. Still the best jeans I've ever had for being into bodybuilding.
Another thing to look for when buying jeans is where the back pockets lay. The higher up they are the more flattering your backside looks. if they are too far down your butt looks flatter. Another good video Thomas.

For someone like me with not a lot of backside and a little pudge around the midsection the best off the rack brand is Wrangler in my opinion. I am a 36X32. They are a little stiff at first and take a little bit to break in but once you do they fit great.
I'm wearing wranglers right now. I see posts sometimes about where to get normal fitting mens clothing, for men thar don't wear sneakers unless they're actually playing a sport or working out, and western wear catalogs have been my go to.

I think one of the battles of well-fitting jeans, especially in classic denims, is that we're applying the fit and movement expectations of a wool or cotton smart-casual trouser to a fabric weight and seam construction which was never originally intended to fit that way. It's a case of "style" and "fit" becoming conflated on a garment type that wasn't historically originally designed to fit, fall, or move in the same way as we now want it to.

I recently discovered that Levi's 505 jeans are made lower waist and with only 5 belt loops which causes the butt to sag. I couldn't figure out why my latest Levi 505s sagged in the behind until I did my research. So I compared my one year old Levi 505s to my 4 year old Levi 505's and this is what I discovered first hand: The two belt loops traditionally above the rear pockets were omitted and the waist material is shorter which prohibits pulling them up properly. Further investigation online led to others who had discovered the same thing. I no longer purchase Levi jeans.
They're also incredibly inconsistent with their sizing now. I bought 3 pairs of 505's a month or so ago from a physical store; all of them 34x34. 1 pair was slightly loose, 1 pair fits perfectly, and the 3rd pair doesn't even come close to fastening. Same thing with my 511's.
If you want a great pair of 505’s buy a LVC selvage pair. I’ve had five pairs and my oldest pair are 15 years old and still look great. Remember, you get what you pay for,
Where do you find jeans like that. Some of us are in between sizes too big and they look sloppy too small and they cut off your circulation... What to do??
1:00 wait. that's exactly what I dislike when it comes to jeans. but most of the jeans I own are like that, because its the style of these jeans, it's modern style whatever it is called. hip hop jeans? ... wasn't there a time, ( one or 2 decades ago or something) when it was modern if the area between the legs was hanging down almost down to the knees ?
Levi’s 510s and 512s are the only jeans that fit me perfectly, although I have to go down 2 inches in length in 512s. Yes, my hips are wide and I have a big curvy butt so stretchy waistbands are a must for me. Fortunately my legs are so skinny that both jeans are still loose around my ankles.
Video doesn’t take into account that jeans stretches over tine with wear. Perfectly fitted denim on day one does not mean it’ll look that way after a wash and dry cycle. All my denim seem to have stretched out at least a size after wearing them for an extended period of time.
In the UK they sell the Super Skinny fit, aka "Spray" because it's so tight that It seems the jeans got sprayed on their legs. No room for imagination...
@Peter Bravestrong I personally find more embarrassing the "from the knees up" half. Despite the body shape, a man in his 40s and over, me included, should avoid any skinny fit clothes, likewise ladies should avoid leggings (at any age, they're so vulgar).
I like shorter length because I mostly wear high shoes and boots, such as Converse chuck 70s high or any leather boot that goes up to the ankles or beyond
Do you know short length jeans make the top baggy and droopy? It's true, I get my length longer and I wear my breeches leg over boots which also makes them fit better. You see the leg gets wider as it goes up, which means when you wear them shorter, the leg is naturally going to be droopy. I hope my lesson on Jean fitting helps lol. but true though👌
as a 5 foot 9.5 person whos still growing, i wear 32 inseam length and they fit well, slightly above ground barefoot, and 2-3 inches above ground in shoes. I like the mid to full break the most and even though i wear black low rise slim fit jeans, my legs still look long. I have one pair thats a little too long thats a 34x32, well i measured the inseam and its greater than 32 inches, its actually 33.5 inches and barely reaches ground barefoot, sometimes they might mismeasure the inseam. I say no worries i will grow into them because im growing taller. For people who arent growing anymore if you tailor those 1-2 inches should be good.
I've lost weight. I need to find a good pair. I haven't been this size since my early 20s. Great info. Need help since styles have changed since then and I don't want the dad jeans and I don't want to look like I'm trying too hard to look young.
@@RishiSaran I am 30" waist but 501 are so wide at the seat that it looks like they are either made for women or seat part is from 32" or 33" size. It is true I lost about 8 kgs last 2 years (went vegan) but still not a good cut. I do not like taper or slim or non-pure cotton.
What about Levis denim pants? There are more than 10 styles of fit. In my understanding there are more than 10 styles of cut which we can buy in the dept stores.
great video. like the idea of tailoring -- esp length. have you tried Revtown denim? I used to wear JCrew 484s only. Then I tried Revtowns -- they actually use their 4-way slight stretch all the way to the waist. I love them... but I think my wife loves them more (her own, and the pairs I wear)...
I only find high-medium rise jeans (I like the skinny ones) in stores and I have to wear them to the navel anyway, for my shape is quite uncommon and if I wear them as they’re supposed to, it leaves a lot of fabric hanging from my lower back. But no matter how much I tighten the belt, everytime I sit or walk for a while they fall a little (got a bit of love handles that weaken the grip).
I don't what size I should go for. According to find tables I should be in size 40 for my waist. By my size 34 jeans slide down when wearing them without a belt... I am puzzled
Thanks for the great tips. 👍🏻 I have been trying to search forever to get thr right siE pants but my husband still ends up showing his Crack! What can help with this?
iam 49 and wear mid rise slim or skinny fit jeans all the time( with a simple slim fit v neck t-shirt t shirt and bomber jacket or leather jacket with military style ankle boots , mostly ) some jeans that are a slim fit seem more skinny and the other way round i like them and feel good in them , my waist is normally 34 but some brands i fit a 32 waist but i always get 34 lengh as i like to turn them up to show the stitching at the bottom iam 5 feet 10 3/4 " in height and just over 14 stone in weight, but i have seen many men including some friend wearing jeans that are hanging off,30 waist wearing 32 jeans ? them and their gf's dont seem to bother
3:25 if your jeans are that long at the ankles, you're wearing them too low. Pull them up properly. No need to roll. A lot of men wear their jeans too low or too big and they look ridiculous. Don't be afraid to show off your ass and bulge in well fitting jeans. I wear my jeans with a belt at the top of my hip bones about 1 inch below the navel.
I like to mix it up and wear oversized baggy jeans as well as loose fit jeans and jeans that fit but with a cuff. Wearing only one style of jeans is boring😴😴😴.
Check out raw selvedge denim as well, a brand I recommend is non stock or bronson mfg, there raw denim is under 100 bucks. Few other good brands are iron heart, naked and famous, bravestar.cant go wrong with wrangler either, but if you like your denim sturdy, durable, rugged and will last raw is the way to go and have a vast amount of different sizes, cuts, washes and styles
Most of Levi's styles are not mid waist and they say it sits below the waist. I tend to wear them on the waist though and they start confirming to my body when I wear them.
It is a pity that the clothing industry to save. They make almost all pants the same exaggerated length. Just imagine, I'm 1.93cm tall and my pants are like an accordion over my shoes. And here in Brazil it is almost impossible to find pants with the correct measurements
My personal opinion I'm a tall thin man ectomorph body type and swear all jeans doesn't look good on me except skinny jeans. Skinny jeans might be tight on a regular skinny guy but to me it doesn't look fit nor too loose so it looks pretty decent on me since I have a long and thin legs. Slim fit sometimes isn't for me specially if the fabric is thin unless its thick. Growing up It has been a struggle searching for the right fit on my body so I watched ton of videos like this but still end up frustrated. Base on my experience it all comes down to what really fits your size. Not too loose nor too tight will look great. Experiment like mix and match also do wonders.
My torso is somewhat abnormally long, so high rise is the way to go for me. If I wear low rise or sometimes if a mid rise is slightly short, it would feel uncomfortable for my crotch, not to mention unsightly. But it's hard to find high rise jeans where I'm from.
Cool so jeans that don’t exist. I’m 5’5 and weigh 145 lbs. I’ve NEVER seen any jeans for short guys that check any of these boxes. I’m stuck with buying jeans that are way too big all around and getting them hemmed, which never looks quite right.

For the long time that I have experimented o different jeans, brand and fit, the best for me is the Levis 502. The best fit for me.
I wear my jeans how I want. You're not the boss of me.
Yes I am
now and you're not so big
PREACH
I wear jeans the way l say l had it off with ur mama
Very nice, educative video is this one. I was always wondering how the jeans should fit perfectly.
Thank you for such a good explanation.
Remember, you get what you pay for,
If you are wearing 505, non selvage, then it’s good that you are not wearing Levis at all in the first place 🤣😂🤣
@@RishiSaran I’ve got a few pairs of US made non selvedge 100% cotton pairs from the early 90’s that are still decent jeans.
Great video as always and thorough.
Where do you find jeans like that.
Some of us are in between sizes
too big and they look sloppy
too small and they cut off your circulation...
What to do??
I use straight and relaxed fit jeans 👖 were fit nice , plus I workout and sculpture my legs well.l
1:00 wait. that's exactly what I dislike when it comes to jeans. but most of the jeans I own are like that, because its the style of these jeans, it's modern style whatever it is called. hip hop jeans? ... wasn't there a time, ( one or 2 decades ago or something) when it was modern if the area between the legs was hanging down almost down to the knees ?
Levi’s 510s and 512s are the only jeans that fit me perfectly, although I have to go down 2 inches in length in 512s. Yes, my hips are wide and I have a big curvy butt so stretchy waistbands are a must for me. Fortunately my legs are so skinny that both jeans are still loose around my ankles.
I learnt something with this segment.
Please can you provide link for that mid rise jeans you wore in this video.
Could you have a videos where to buy specific brands or types of clothing? Or which stores you recommend to shop?
Video doesn’t take into account that jeans stretches over tine with wear. Perfectly fitted denim on day one does not mean it’ll look that way after a wash and dry cycle. All my denim seem to have stretched out at least a size after wearing them for an extended period of time.
You are the best of the best! I appreciate it. 💫💫💫
Science behind the jeans!
Cool" Thomas"❤️
How about tapered fit jeans?Antonio
Do you think it's a good option bro...
Skinny jeans on men look feminine, thus not attractive…
@@monicagambino318 bingo 👍👍I’ve never wore skinny jeans don’t intend to
Love the work you do!
Thanks Thomas, great video straight to the point!
What about my package? I’m wearing them how you recommended but find them really snug in the front. Suggestions?
2:31 those have got to be some high rise jeans. If not, they should have done a side by side comparison.
Great video as usual.
I appreciate that
Good information. I love your channel.
What to do for bigger calf ?
Awesome video!
as a 5 foot 9.5 person whos still growing, i wear 32 inseam length and they fit well, slightly above ground barefoot, and 2-3 inches above ground in shoes.
Get the 501 non elastane, 100% cotton. Can’t go wrong with this one ever if your waist is 28-32” with fit legs 🦵 to match…
Thee full break to nobreak matter when sitting down or not?
And what about jeans with 10% of poliester and 2 of elastan? Like in some Lee's. Is it ok?
I like Lee's, the straight fit with "extreme motion" are so comfortable.
Great video learned something new, take care
Quik question, what brand is the jean show in the photo in thumbnail
I only find high-medium rise jeans (I like the skinny ones) in stores and I have to wear them to the navel anyway, for my shape is quite uncommon and if I wear them as they’re supposed to, it leaves a lot of fabric hanging from my lower back. But no matter how much I tighten the belt, everytime I sit or walk for a while they fall a little (got a bit of love handles that weaken the grip).
What brand jeans are featured in the video?
I'm 67 and just bought 3 502's, 30 30, like when I was in my twenties
looking good...
Very informative . Thank you.
Levi 514 and 501 are the best by miles. Doesn't matter what age you are.
Thanks from Germany 👍
Hope you escaped the floods.
Thanks - Well told. Would like to view a similar video on mens formal fitting trouser.🌹🌹
Regular Fit/Taper is my style...I used to be a bootcut guy, but the length of the jeans sometimes makes me look like I'm wearing the wrong size....
Which jeans brand has been used in this video?
Great job
iam 49 and wear mid rise slim or skinny fit jeans all the time( with a simple slim fit v neck t-shirt t shirt and bomber jacket or leather jacket with military style ankle boots , mostly ) some jeans that are a slim fit seem more skinny and the other way round i like them and feel good in them , my waist is normally 34 but some brands i fit a 32 waist but i always get 34 lengh as i like to turn them up to show the stitching at the bottom iam 5 feet 10 3/4 " in height and just over 14 stone in weight, but i have seen many men including some friend wearing jeans that are hanging off,30 waist wearing 32 jeans ? them and their gf's dont seem to bother
Thank you ❤
Thank you!
Perfect👍👍👍
It’s crazy how these skinny jeans in these videos are the new dad jeans lol
There is never any need for elastane (plastic thread) in your jeans. Cotton is a natural fiber and it stretches naturally.
I wear boots 24/7 so boot cut is the way to go, also you want them a little baggy wearing certain boots
Most of Levi's styles are not mid waist and they say it sits below the waist.
I tend to wear them on the waist though and they start confirming to my body when I wear them.
My sister knows what I like and my size, she'll buy them for me.
She works at AE uses her discount.
Loving the sound effects recently! Vine boom sound effect was unexpected but welcomed.
Clothing looks more beautiful that depends basic your body, and second thing is combining colors between them right
It is a pity that the clothing industry to save. They make almost all pants the same exaggerated length. Just imagine, I'm 1.93cm tall and my pants are like an accordion over my shoes. And here in Brazil it is almost impossible to find pants with the correct measurements
What brand are those jeans the guy with the maroon t-shirt is wearing? You guys should list the brand that the models wear so one can purchase them.
Thank you sir love you from India Hyderabad. My waist is 44 please suggest me Levi's jeans Indian style. I am confuse. Some brand Jean fit 42 also me.
We can wear jeans with dress shoes?
3:38 more like half break, or sllight , but for sure not no break look
Cool so jeans that don’t exist. I’m 5’5 and weigh 145 lbs. I’ve NEVER seen any jeans for short guys that check any of these boxes. I’m stuck with buying jeans that are way too big all around and getting them hemmed, which never looks quite right.
I have no but and when I sit my but almost pops out . I am so lost when it comes to finding a pair of pants .
I can honestly say I have not owned a pair of jeans for 20 years or even longer. Nothing flannels, corduroy or chinos could not do.
Ur different or over 40
@@Arasaka107 No, I just don't want to be uniformed. If I were a cowhand, an oil rig worker or a car mechanic it would be different - then it would be an appropriate garb. But I'm neither.
I also love khakis
@@briankurgat2770 Yes, and they are versatile too - and unlike jeans they do not fade.
Visiting Italy. I’m surprised to see so many men of all ages wearing skinny leg jeans!
noticed the same--even white skinny jeans were fairly common
Sometimes comfort comes above the looks. Loose jeans is the good example. It looks sloppy but it's very comfortable.
